KMP put Makro on the Map!
KMP has been working with cash and carry giants, Makro to create a new home page design which is specifically focused towards customers. An integral part of this project has been the development of a Google Map application, which allows customers to type in their postcode and find their nearest store.
Makro were looking to maximise the number of visitors to the website, and ultimately to improve the sign up to the Makro card online.
The new home page is intuitive and clear, and is designed to create an easy and intuitive shopping experience at Makro. The Google Map store locator application is a central feature of the home page, and can also calculate the location of the customer and provide directions to the nearest store.
Further work with Makro includes the development of an online virtual assistant, which will aid in the assistance of customer service online. This is due to go live towards the end of January.
Makro originally came across KMP's services after attending one of our seminars on the topic of Web Content Strategy, and we hope to work together on additional projects in the future.

Manchester Digital ProDev Day
Tomorrow is the day that could change the lives of hundreds of students, as Manchester Metropolitan University opens its doors to North West Digital companies to meet what could be their future stars as part of Manchester Digital's ProDev day.
With this in mind, Bill and I will be heading down to "The Street", John Dalton Building on Oxford Road (opposite the BBC), putting up our exhibition stand and representing KMP!
The idea is for North West companies to promote the digital sector to current students and graduates, and to attract and retain the talent in the north, rather than letting these rough diamonds slip through our fingers and head to London!
The day itself is an informal Professional Development Day which simply gives students and companies the chance to meet up, do a bit of networking and then socialise over a drink (or two!) at Kro2. This is a great opportunity for the students from MMU Business School and the rest of MMU, the Universities of Manchester and Salford, and Manchester Business School to meet some of the North-West’s best industry professionals. Other companies attending include Code Computer Love, Reading Room, Ten Alps plc and McCann Erikson, to name but a few!
We look forward to seeing you there!

Launch of new Education website for the Manchester Airport Group
KMP has just launched a new interactive Education website for the Manchester Airport Group.
The new website looks at all areas of education and ways for the airports to make an impact on the local schools and community.
The aim of the website is to engage visitors and provide easy access to airport information for schools. Features of the site include a dedicated section for teaching resources and a student area, which provides information on all four of the airports in the Group.
A highlight of the education website is a bright and colourful "Funzone" for children, which provides useful information and educational games for children to use to help them understand what happens at airports. For the older students, there is a dedicated student area which is specifically aimed at research assignments.

Reputation Management - the new frontier
Well it seems that many companies still do not believe in the power of the Internet and in particular the changes in marketing and customer relations that have happened as a result of web 2.0.
Despite the growth of blogs and online forums where customers are openly discussing their satisfaction with products and services, we still see company management hiding their heads in the sand and not engaging in conversations with their customers.
Technology is now available to trawl the Internet for any mentions of your company or brand and monitor the conversations going on. We can even categorise these conversations by "Sentiment" as to whether they are positive negative or neutral mentions. (In fact a simple search on Google around your company/brand name and obvious key words on the main search and blogs search will give you some idea). But then what ?
Well in today's world,if you know people are talking about your brand then it follows that you must enter a dialogue with them.
Let's take, for example, the follow up to my last blog post regarding "Trying to recruit a .Net developer in Stockport" which I published in August. Despite their promises, the company involved, RMI Recruitment in Leeds, failed to suggest any suitable candidates as a replacement for the first candidate who was hired but left after a few weeks.
I sent an email to the managing director last week asking for a refund on the basis that they had not performed against their promise. I got no reply ... nothing. Nada!
As a result I believe that I have been treated shabbily. In the olden days I may have thought about the small claims court or some such redress. But in today's world the first thing I want to do is express myself and let everyone - in particular other potential customers how badly I have been treated and that I didn't think that I got value for
Every company now needs to contemplate how they should manage user feedback on their products and services in this public arena. The power has shifted and there needs to be a recognition that to protect your brand you need to do something.

Twitter starts to deliver value
As a fairly new but avid fan of Twitter, last night I watched in awe at Twitter Election 2008 in conjunction with Current TV. People were asked to tweet scoring the candidates with a simple scoring guide.-3 for a personal attack, -2 for a false statement,-1 for avoiding the issue, or not answering the question,+1 for a successful assertion,+2 for a successful counterpoint to opponents assertion,+3 Quotable sound bite.

Rekindling the love between brands and customers
Is it possible to "love" a brand? It's an inanimate object for goodness sake. How do brands create mutual love with their customers? An interesting view on the state of most brand/customer relationships is summed up neatly here.
How do we at KMP help brands to get loved by their customers?
