North West Evening Mail photographer Dennis Sharp has died at home. The 60-year-old was well-known in the locality. He started work with the Evening Mail at 15, initially as a hot metal compositor and later as a maintenance manager. He was made redundant in 1995 which offered him the opportunity to pursue his dream of becoming a professional photographer. His hobbies included rock climbing and windsurfing. Mr Sharp was married to his wife Pat for 35 years. Mrs Sharp said: “Dennis was a wonderful man, he had a great sense of humour and he was a very interesting guy. He was my best friend. I’m going to miss him greatly.” Evening Mail editor Steve Brauner said: "We have lost a much loved colleague and a great photographer." Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
