QR code made out of chocolate - a sweet idea from Clock

Why have cotton when you can have a QR code made out of 500 individual chunks of chocolate?

Ramsbottom’s Clock Creative has made what How-Do will brazenly call a world first - a metre high QR code made out of chocolate, that actually works.

Why have cotton when you can have a QR code made out of 500 individual chunks of chocolate? The pictured creation has been cobbled together for the Chocolate Festival that will be hitting the agency’s home town this weekend.

Clock has somehow managed to ensure that the code is not only made out of treats, but works like one too - connecting mobile users that scan it through to the festival website, where they can access a range of offers and promotions.

Martin Dickson, head of design at Clock, commented: “Over 25,000 people are coming to Ramsbottom during the festival and we wanted to get involved and create something a bit different.

“Working with our local chocolate hero and creator of the Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival - The Chocolate Café – we put our minds to the test of how best to promote the event. We think the chocolate QR code is a first and only hope it doesn’t melt.”

The code will be in the window of the Chocolate Café for the next few weeks.

Whether they’ll manage to keep it intact, working and fingerprint free for that time remains to be seen...

Well you can certainly eat all the white ones!

Generally QR codes have a 30% tolerance so a fair few of the dark chocolate ones too!

Wonder how may you can eat before the QR Code stops working !

yeah totally works - click on our blog and scan the one on our blog.

And you have tested it and it works? Hmmm...

Thanks for the credit Peter. Some more pictures of the QR code in the Chocolate Café here:
