Tony Elliott, founder and owner of the international Time Out brand, confirmed to How-Do this week that he is in advanced discussions with advisers, with a view to raising close to £1m to launch Time Out Manchester this autumn.

He conceded that timescale may fall back to January 2008 if negotiations drag but he is adamant it will happen. "It is the perfect time to provide this fantastic city with its own 'handbook'," said Elliott. "There is so much going on that people need to know about."

Prior to the weekly magazine's arrival, Time Out will release a City Guide to Manchester in April, followed shortly after by an expanded Time Out Manchester website.

How-Do spoke to Elliott earlier this week and the full interview will be published next week.

For those who can’t wait till then, however, we fortuitously happened to have a film crew with us for the interview. You can watch a summary of below.

If anyone wishes to view the full 20-minute interview with Elliott, they should contact us at info@how-do.co.uk.

We have made the above video freely available to share on YouTube, where you can also visit the How-Do channel to subscribe to future videos.

I'd like to be the first person to wish Mr Elliott the very best of luck with his potential launch of the Time Out brand in Manchester.

Manchester is an incredible city with plenty to shout about and, as the Editor in Chief of 69 Magazine, I look forward to working alongside Time Out.

It would be pertinent to remind everyone that 69 Magazine recently launched in the city offering a seasonal (5 times annually) opportunity to highlight the most fabulous sights, sounds and brands of Manchester.

Unlike any other title in the city, 69 is precisely targeted into the hands of the influential 20/30 something urbanite. But it's more than that, it also distributes out of the city too; Liverpool, Leeds and Sheffield.

This is a concept that has been running in the Midlands for nearly 8 years, where we are fully ABC audited and now the UK's biggest Free Regional lifestyle magazine.

It's the job of 69 to present Manchester and the North-West in a very credible, sexy way that encourages consumers from within the city and beyond to experience Manchester in all its forms.

I never intended this to be a pitch for 69 Magazine, but interested parties/individuals that are looking to harness the unique positioning of 69 can contact me directly on 0871 42 69696 and kevin@69-247.com

Not one to jump on the bandwagon.. but yes, completely agree with Kevin, working along side other magazines, no matter their demographics is great for print publishing. There are so many independent publishers up north, and I don't think its celebrated enough that they can sit next to national publishers producing 'regional' titles, and be taken seriously.
My magazine, Moving Manchester undergoes a re brand this month, more pages, bigger circulation, whats on listings, a complete overhaul of content and editorial from our readers survey. I'm excited to see what everyone will think of it, its an exciting time for us being our 6th year.

Good luck Time Out, though I don't think you'll need it somehow :)

Ben, did you really have to throw in an advert for MM? This article is about a competitor, dont try and get some glory for yourself!

Chimp Magazine (in the interest of fair play), would like to know the exact date of the release of Time Out Manchester.....In exchange we'll throw a party and give the mag free publicity gratis.

The people of Manchester need to know.
