GMG-owned 106.1 Rock Radio, which hit Manchester’s airwaves earlier this year, has nominated Manchester Million as its official charity for 2008/09.
Manchester Million works to raise awareness of male forms of cancer and fund research into the disease at leading specialist hospital Christie. To support the charity Rock Radio will now run a programme of fund-raising activities, including donating the cash from its ‘bring a pound to work day’. In a statement from the station, Joe Radcliffe, director of Rock Radio, noted: “Manchester Million really connected with the 106.1 Rock Radio brand as it seeks to help our core audience – the men of Manchester. “Sadly, many cancers exclusive to men like prostate and testis don’t get prominence and get overlooked in terms of funding. “The Manchester focus makes this a great pairing and we look forward to making a difference in the fight against men’s cancers.” www.rockradio.co.uk Something to add?
