The second Advanced Apprenticeship in Media Production scheme opened for applications yesterday, following on from the success of its inaugural intake of students in 2007.
As reported on How-Do last month, this year’s scheme is supported by a who’s who of the broadcast industry in the North West, with names such as the BBC, Red Productions, ITV and Lime throwing their not inconsiderable weight behind proceedings. This year’s course is scheduled to start in September and will see 36 16 – 22 year olds from the region learning valuable across-the-board broadcast skills. Northwest Vision and Media’s David Longworth said of the apprenticeship’s intentions: “The scheme represents the growing belief in the media industry that talent isn’t about where you live or skin colour, educational achievements, gender or background.” He continued: “The apprenticeship will develop skills and abilities in various production roles, as well as allowing the trainees to learn about all areas of the media industry.” This year’s students, who are not required to have GCSE English or Maths, will receive a grade 3 qualification following on from their 18-month study course. Details of how to apply and the criteria for entry onto the 2008/10 Advanced Apprenticeship in Media Production are available now on www.visionandmedia.co.uk/page/media-apprenticeships-2008/10 Something to add?
