The BBC is teaming up with the University of Central Lancashire to meet Northwest Vision and Media’s objective of “developing the Northwest’s media workforce into multi-platform thinkers, producers and developers.”
Vision and Media announced its intention to help school the media masses for the digital age when it released £250,000 of tenders back in August. One of those tenders concerned a ‘multi-platform journalism programme’ and it is this that the two new partners will deliver.Together the two will be schooling 30 freelance journalists with a ‘cutting edge course’ that will help them produce content across platforms including online, TV, radio, and mobile. The initiative is well timed for the BBC’s departmental move north. Speaking of the course, Matt Foster, programme manager BBC at MediaCityUK BBC Training & Development, said: “If I were starting out as a journalist again I'd jump at this opportunity. “Bringing the industry focused expertise of BBC Training & Development together with UCLan's great academic reputation for journalism training is really exciting. “We're planning a pioneering course that really delivers the skills journalists will need for the 21st Century.” The course will include a four-week paid industry placement. www.bbctraining.com www.ukjournalism.org www.visionandmedia.co.uk Something to add?
