As rumoured by How-Do last week , the BBC has now confirmed that award-winning writer, Jimmy McGovern is taking a step into daytime drama with a new series set in Liverpool and produced by the city’s LA Productions .
The 5 x 45 minute series with the working title Moving On will be shown across one week on BBC One next year. Each episode takes place in a house and involves a family or individual moving in or out.
McGovern Liam Keelan, controller of BBC Daytime commissioned the series: "I want BBC Daytime to be topical and to grab people's attention, so a drama from someone of Jimmy's calibre and credibility fits the bill perfectly." "Our aim is to produce riveting drama to an extremely high standard," said McGovern (The Street, Priest and The Lakes). "Part of the attraction is that we'll be making the programmes in Liverpool, our home town, a city full of talent. I can't wait to get started." Liam Keelan will be executive producer for BBC, while Colin McKeown and Jimmy McGovern will exec for LA Productions. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
