Blackpool to host Royal Variety Performance | Print |  Email to a friend
Thursday, 02 July 2009
The Royal Variety Performance is returning to Blackpool for the first time since 1955.

Blackpool to host Royal Variety Performance
1955 programme
The show, which will be broadcast on ITV1 has been alternating between London and locations away from the capital since 2003, with Liverpool getting the event in 2007.

The Blackpool Opera House will be playing host again, although this year’s performers are likely to be a little different from the 1955 version which included George Formby, Arthur Askey and Morecambe and Wise.

Back then it was the first time it had been staged outside of London. It was held in the presence of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh

While full details of the 2009 line-up have yet to be announced, the winners of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent (Diversity) will be appearing.
