Bored How-Do reader sets us a challenge | Print |  Email to a friend

In the warp speed world of the internet stories break, live and die in a matter of minutes, hours and, if they’re big enough, the odd day or two.

The media world has been super-accelerated to a rate that would give Scotty palpitations, and still the hunger is there for ever more, ever faster. Particularly at the biggest news corporations, like the BBC…

In the warp speed world of the internet stories break, live and die in a matter of minutes, hours and, if they’re big enough, the odd day or two.
Woodthorpe: not going anywhere
Well, it appears as if the internet engine room at the Starship BBC North West must have either melted down, or their very own version of Scotty is off visiting Bones.

An eagle-eyed (read bored) How-Do’er has spotted that, despite the fact that we broke news of the departure of David Woodthorpe over two weeks ago, said bloke is still a very prominent member of the coterie of main North West Tonight correspondents you can see here.

His biog, email and lovely photo are still in place and he is still, apparently, “the BBC’s face of politics in the North West.”

So, the reader has set us a challenge of seeing how quickly we can get the page altered if we mention Woodthorpe’s enduring presence right here.

There, it’s done.

Any one fancy a bet on how quickly he’ll disappear? Predictions below please.

Seeing as they're not close to getting a replacement yet - they didn't expect him to bugger off - I'd go for much longer.
The correspondents page would look crap with only three people on it.
I'll go for Christmas.
2009.

It's a bit like North West Tonight in general - out of date and inaccurate.

Who had 1800 on 3rd Sept?
Yes, How-Do's influence is indeed great....
If only they'd read the original article!

What's next? Gordon's much hyped newsletter hasn't been updated on the site since May 23rd. Then again it sums up North West Tonight. Months behind!

Yup, the correspondent's page looks crap with only three people on it!
Still props that they've actually been forced into updating the site for the first time in a long time.
