Boyle to direct mountaineering film 127 Hours | Print |  Email to a friend
Thursday, 05 November 2009
Reports in America suggest Danny Boyle will be directing a film about mountaineer Aron Ralston who had to amputate his own arm to survive.

According to Variety, Fox Searchlight has teamed up with the Oscar-winning director to make the film, provisionally titled 127 Hours.

It’s expected that Boyle will work with some of his Slumdog Millionaire team on the production, including writer Simon Beaufoy and producer Christian Colson.

Ralston hit the headlines in 2003, after a mountaineering accident in Utah.

If you’re squeamish, you may want to look away now....

He was climbing alone, when a boulder fell down and trapped his right arm.

Stuck there for 4 days, he finally took out a blunt pocket-knife and started to operate on himself. It took an hour to complete the amputation.

As if that wasn’t enough, he then crawled through a canyon, descended an 18 metre cliff and walked 10km before meeting someone who could help.

My admiration for SuBo just grows and grows. From a slightly backward spinster to international singing sensation and youtube glitterati and now she's turning her head to direction. Is there no end to this woman's stash of latent talents? Though why she's on How-Do remains a mystery. What's that? Oh...
