Brookside Close went under the hammer this week and beat its guide price of up to £600k, eventually going for £735k.
Dead end street Lot 307 - a cul-de-sac of 13 houses in West Derby, was sold to an anonymous bidder at the auction in London. Whether a builder, a fan or a hopeful production company trying to revive the series, they’re going to have to be pretty handy, because each of them needs substantial renovation after several years of being left empty. The Close was originally bought by Phil Redmond and Mersey TV in the 80s and although the soap ended in 2003, it was another 2 years before Mersey TV (then owned by All3Media) decided to sell the set. Picked up by a property developer who refurbished all the houses, their new future is still unknown. But you’d expect the new tenants will be hoping for fewer sieges, stabbings, crashes and patio-burials. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
