Steven Andrew has been appointed CBBC’s head of drama and acquisitions ahead of the department’s move to Salford.
He’s currently a freelance executive and his previous role was programme director of ITV digital channels.
The new job will see Andrew oversee the development and production of all in-house CBBC Drama and CBBC acquisition.
"This is a fantastic appointment for BBC Children's,” said controller BBC Children’s Richard Deverell.
"To attract someone with Steven's track record to head CBBC Drama and Acquisitions is a testament to the department's reputation and it demonstrates that we are committed to appointing the very best talent prior to the move to MediaCityUK in 2011."
"It's a huge privilege and I look forward to continuing and leading a department whose track record in drama is second to none,” added Andrew.
Steven Andrew began his career at the BBC, with production credits on Going Live, Blue Peter, Jackanory and Grange Hill. He moved to ITV after 24 years to be controller, off peak and controller CiTV.
