Channel 4 dramatises shooting of Thomas Hurndall
Hurndall drama
The shooting of Tom Hurndall was covered in depth by media in the North West from 2003, when the AP news agency snapped that a photographer had been shot dead by an Israeli soldier in the West Bank and it quickly emerged that he was a student in Manchester.

Reports from the scene suggested he’d been trying to help people get out of the line of fire when he was shot by a sniper.

The drama explores his family’s quest to discover the truth and force the Israeli state to acknowledge the murder.

The cast includes Matthew McNulty (Mark of Cain) as Tom Hurdnall, his father is played by Stephen Dillane (The Hours, Welcome to Sarajevo), Kerry Fox (Intimacy, Shallow Grave) is Tom’s mother.

Jodie Whittaker (Venus) plays Tom's sister Sophie and Harry Treadaway (Control, Brothers of the Head) is Tom's brother Billy.

Mark Bazeley (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Queen) plays Tom Fitzalan-Howard, Defence Attaché to the British Embassy in Tel Aviv.

The two hour drama has been produced with the full cooperation of the Hurndall family.

It will go out on 13th October at 9pm

The Hurndalls had every right to investigate the death of their son.
However, their son went to the heart of a war zone and was allowed (by the Palestinians), unknowingly, to be at the front line in the most dangerous area.
The Israelis are faced, almost every day, by unlawful bombings and rocket attacks. They are forced to have lookout towers in order to defend their people.
I feel for the Hurndalls, but this programme was far too 1 sided and was not in the slightest a balanced view of what is really going on over there.
