The firm behind kids TV hits Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the Racing Car has moved its productions out of Chorlton’s Cosgrove Hall and into its own studio facilities at a new base in Altrincham.
Roary Chapman Entertainment, which was set up by Bob the Builder creator Keith Chapman in 2001, has had a long-standing agreement with Cosgrove to make the popular shows – a partnership that has so far resulted in 104 episodes of FiFi and 52 episodes of Roary. However, Chapman is now set to take greater control over its own productions from new studio space sublet from Hot Animation. The firm has said the facilities will be fully functional from next month and should employ 20 members of staff. Its first project will be the second season of Roary the Racing Car, which will air on Five Milkshake! and Nick Jr. next year. Tim Harper will continue to direct the show, with Phil Clark senior producing. Greg Lynn, Chapman’s MD, described the changes as “the next logical move in our development and a hugely exciting step in the company’s expansion.” In other news at the studio, Emily Whinnett is being promoted to director of production and Nadia Harti to head of production.
