BBC Radio Manchester sports reporter Ian Cheeseman is limbering up for a marathon Comic Relief challenge.
This Friday, 14 March, the intrepid journo will be running a lap at each of Greater Manchester’s Premier League football clubs – and covering the distance between them, some 30 miles, entirely on foot. A lap of honour awaits Cheeseman starts at the City of Manchester Stadium, before moving on to Old Trafford, The Reebok Stadium and the JJB.He will run a lap of each accompanied by the relevant club mascots; Moonchester and Moonbeam (City), Fred The Red (United), Lofty the Lion (Bolton Wanderers) and, well, we’re not entirely sure what Wigan’s mascot is called (Wilberforce? William? Wally? Answers below please). BBC listeners are being encouraged to join Ian in his quest and run all, or part, of the mammoth route alongside him. “That would be fantastic,” he said. The full route can be found at www.bbc.co.uk/manchester Donations to Sport Relief can be made online at www.sportrelief.com Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
