Production outfit Chief has revealed to How-Do that it was involved in the shooting of the much-reported new Hovis ad in Liverpool earlier this month. Although the team there seem as bemused as everyone else about the Wayne Rooney connection.
“Absolute rubbish, but very funny,” was how company founder, or Chief chief, Colin Offland described the reports that linked the Manchester United and England star with the Premier Food brand’s new campaign. “There was a lot of hilarity on set when this story first appeared in the Mirror,” he added. “I think a few people got their wires crossed.”(Yes, yes, including How-Do – Ed) Offland’s firm was, in his own words, “responsible for bringing this job up north,” with the shoot taking place on Merseyside. Chief produced on behalf of London-based Rattling Stick, with Ringan Ledwidge in the director’s seat. The Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy penned ad, which is set to be a celebration of British history, breaks on 12 September and is, according to Offland, “going to be amazing.” Although it may not have had Mr Rooney the end product should still be memorable, with Offland revealing that his firm managed to get permission to partly demolish a block of terraced houses for a scene that recreated the blitz. “I will be surprised if it's not one of the most awarded (adverts) of the year,” he concluded. www.chiefproductions.co.uk
