The broadcasting stalwart, still known simply as Trisha to lovers of daytime TV, will be revealed by station director Richard Maddock in a news conference at Liverpool Town Hall today at 2pm. She will also be made an 08 Ambassador during her visit.

Emap Radio bosses are sitting on the exact details of her appointment until the official unveiling today, but it has come to light that Goddard will be charged with presenting a weekly show, taking place every Sunday from 8 to 10pm.

The appointment is not thought to interfere in any way with her packed weekday schedule, which centres around the daily Trisha Goddard show broadcast on Five.

The high profile move will be seen as an interesting one by media observers within the city, as it marks the first appointment of a well-known figure not directly associated with Liverpool itself.

Goddard is a Londoner by birth and currently resides with her third husband in Norwich.
