Clint Boon moves to Xfm drive-time as Cocker and Graeme Sharp sign for Radio City | Print |  Email to a friend

Inspiral Carpets keyboardist and ‘DJ about town’ Clint Boon has made a permanent move into the drive-time seat at Xfm Manchester, following the decision by resident presenter Tim Cocker to head down the M62 to Liverpool’s Radio City.

A spokesperson for Xfm confirmed to How-Do yesterday that the switch from the popular evening Music:Response show to drive-time would be permanent for the Sony nominated Boon, who will be replaced by Steve Harris upon his return from holiday.

Apparently this switch “excited” the veteran of the Madchester scene and fitted in “much better with his other DJ commitments.”

Boon replaces Tim Cocker, who joins Radio City to host the early evening show from 1 September, who in turn replaces the Century Radio bound Glen Hunt.

In a further case of (increasingly confusing) DJing musical chairs, former Century Radio presenter Graeme Sharp – part of the recently dropped Legends team – has also made the move over to Radio City and sister station City Talk.

The ex-Everton player, the club’s most prolific scorer since Dixie Dean, will now be commenting on his former club’s games alongside regular Citysport voice Alan Irwin.

Speaking about the signing, Radio City and City Talk station director Richard Maddock commented; "Graeme is a radio natural.

“He is immensely knowledgeable and the fact that he still works at Everton means his ties with supporters are second to none.

“He's the perfect signing for Citysport, I'm sure listeners will agree its good to have him back on a local station where he belongs."
