The BBC is taking the first steps into its new Salford Quays dawn, with the leasing of offices and studio space in the Pie Factory on “Broadway”.
Since confirmation that the move north to mediacity:uk is now going ahead, the Factory has seen its available space diminish rapidly.
Other tenants to move in include Shameless creator Paul Abbott who is taking space for his production company Tightrope Pictures, Impact, Purple Crew and Lemon Casting Agency.
Hat Trick North has also agreed use the Factory to make a series of six 60-minute of the BBC3 comedy drama Drop Dead Gorgeous. Granada is also now using the Factory for filming Cold Blood.
The former Freshbake factory is a joint venture between the site developer Peel Holdings and Andy Sumner, who owns the city’s largest post-production company Sumner’s.
The Factory offers 20,000 sq ft of office space and 50,000 sq ft of production space.
