Cosgrove Hall loses six more staff, as Granada move mooted | Print |  Email to a friend
Thursday, 20 November 2008

Reports have suggested that staff numbers at Cosgrove Hall have fallen to six, as the ITV-owned animation house gets set for a potential move from its spiritual home in Chorlton-cum-Hardy into Granada Studios.
Reports have suggested that staff numbers at Cosgrove Hall have fallen by a further six, as the ITV-owned animation house gets set for a potential move from its spiritual home in Chorlton-cum-Hardy into Granada Studios.

There is, however, apparently a positive development in the pipeline.

The firm, known for its output of seminal children’s shows such as Dangermouse and Chorlton and the Wheelies, has apparently pared back staff numbers substantially from around 70 at this time last year.

It has been speculated that a further round of cost-cuttings will now see the firm, which has been a Chorlton resident since its formation in 1976, moving into ITV’s Granada base.

When contacted by How-Do to confirm the veracity of these reports, an ITV spokesperson refused to comment on either staff numbers or the proposed move.

However, they did release a statement hinting at more positive developments on the horizon.

It noted: "It's very much business as usual at Cosgrove Hall. The company is on the verge of a commission that will lead to the next recruitment drive.

“The project will use 2D CGI technology and be targeted at the global market."

Further details were not available at the time of writing.

In a further part of the statement, that has been publicised before, ITV said: "Cosgrove Hall has gone through significant restructuring over the last couple of years to get it to a point where we feel it has an appropriate level of creative staff to produce ongoing work and win new business."

Cosgrove Hall’s website, which was built last year by Manchester’s Creative Lynx, still notes “Cosgrove Hall Films is Europe’s largest and most prolific animation company.”

I think it’s the evil work of Barron-Green-Vose. Some of the old heroes should come back and topple this master criminal of creativity. I hear there is a storm rising on the southern side of Manchester and good will once again prosper (although under a different alias).
