Cunard Yanks seeking sponsors to help promote the DVD internationally | Print |  Email to a friend
Friday, 06 July 2007
Souled Out Films (SOF) in Liverpool, which in June premiered its latest production, Cunard Yanks, at the Philharmonic Hall in front of 1500 guests, is seeking 200 ‘angels’ to put up £200 each to enable SOF to distribute and promote the DVD around the world.

SOF produced the film without public sector funding and Mike Morris of SOF told How-Do that the music licences alone will cost the company £9,200 to release the film on DVD. The sound track is a key feature of the film with 17 original recordings.

The film follows four former sailors from Liverpool returning to New York and depicts a previously forgotten history of how Liverpool seamen travelled on Cunard Liners, helping to influence UK pop culture, most famously the Beatles.

Morris added: “The idea of launching a 'fighting fund' to raise the funds to release the film to DVD and promote it through the internet, came from us reflecting on the gap between the usual outlets, distributors, TV Channels etc and the huge turnout for the premiere and subsequent positive feedback from all those who attended.

“We have therefore decided to fall back on the people who have supported us throughout, the audience, and appeal to them to support us.”
