Diversity FM appeals for funds to stay on air

Lancashire community radio station, Diversity FM, says it will close down at the end of March, unless it receives funding to keep going.

The station, which broadcasts to Lancaster and Morecambe has set up a JustGiving page in the hope of finding the £6000 it needs every month to stay on air.

“What you hear on the radio is around 20% of the work we do,” it said in a statement.

“Behind the scenes we also work with many members of the community who are marginalised, for example those with physical disabilities, mental health issues, addiction problems and ex-offenders.  We also work with the youth, training them in radio skills and giving them the opportunity to do something they would never otherwise get the chance to do. The same can be said for many of our older volunteers.”

Without an injection of cash, the last broadcast will be on March 31st.
