Lookin’ for Lucky, a film shot in Bolton and Salford by staff and graduates from the University of Salford is to get its debut at the city’s Film Festival later this month.
Filming on set It tells the story of a group of people living on the Paradise Heights Estate and how they come together when a local gangster’s deal goes wrong.
Chris Leonard is the producer and director and he teaches at the University. Writer and co-producer Joe O’Byrne and 18 other cast members studied at the School of Media, Music and Performance.
It was produced by Albino Injun Productions and the crew involved the local community in all aspects of production.
"We made sure we were in the areas we wanted to film days before we started talking to local people and listening to their comments," said Leonard. "There was a lot of interest in the project – our casting session in a local pub attracted over 70 people and there were loads more walking around as background extras. We even got local kids to shout ‘cut’ and ‘action’ during filming."
It makes its debut on 19 November at the Salford Film Festival. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
