The BBC has begun filming a new comedy series for BBC Three, starring Ralf Little, Johnny Vegas and Carl Rice (currently starring in Scallywagga).
Vegas: a Massive star The show, which is set to air this Autumn, has been christened Massive and will revolve around the antics of Little and Rice as they leave dreary temping jobs to set up ‘Manchester’s hottest record label’ Shady Records. The two play Danny and Shay who, in the words of a BBC statement, manage to “pluck a girl band from the obscurity of Superb'uns cake shop, get sued by Eminem, get lost in the Pennines – where they find the new Oasis – and get involved in a scam involving a Macedonian prostitute called Zora who has a revolutionary way of making shish kebabs.” This rather intriguing sounding script is the work of Damian Lanigan, is being produced by Jim Poyser and is currently being directed in and around the city by David Kerr, who most recently worked on That Mitchell And Webb Look. The executive producer is BBC creative head of comedy Kenton Allen, who said of the show: "Massive combines Ralf Little and Johnny Vegas with a terrific supporting cast and Damian Lanigan's vivid scripts about rock 'n roll lifestyles on a Primark budget. “It's shaping up to be a unique comedy treat for this autumn on BBC Three." www.bbc.co.uk
