Future of regional television discussed at Salford |

Major players in the future of the nations and regions will be meeting at the University of Salford next week to discuss what will happen next to local television.
The keynote address will be made by Ofcom’s partner for content and standards, Stewart Purvis. Other speakers include ITV’s director of strategy and development Carolyn Fairbairn; Blair Jenkins, chair of the Scottish Broadcasting Commission and David Holdsworth, acting controller, English Regions at the BBC.
The event will be chaired by Guardian columnist Steve Hewlett.
The discussions will feed into Ofcom’s Public Service Broadcasting Review, which looks at how PSB will develop in a multi-channel, digital age. The event is organised by the Professor Ron Cook at the University’s International Media Centre: "I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to attract so many high profile speakers to this event and that we will have an opportunity to contribute to Ofcom’s consultation."
