The two stations generate combined sales of £8m and employ over 100 people between them. The 30+ staff at Smooth are expected to move from their base at Exchange Quay to Century’s base at Salford Quays.
Rock Radio will also be housed at the soon-to-be-refurbished Laser House on the Quays and total employment is anticipated to rise by a further 20 to 30 staff when the new station is operating next year.
A six figure ad campaign devised by Clear Advertising to announce the rebranding of Smooth has just finished while a new six figure campaign for Century launched yesterday.
The media has been bought by Brilliant and includes TV on Granada, bus packs and black cabs.
Bennett, 42, has been with GMG Radio since it was established in 2000. He started his media career as a display sales rep on the Daily Mirror.
