Granada Reports’ Oscar scoop
Too many smutty jokes...
The public relations team behind Slumdog Millionaire had told the media that Boyle wouldn’t be doing any one-to-one interviews ahead of the Academy Awards.

However, Hacking tracked the Lancashire director down to his hotel in LA, only to find him watching the Manchester United game. He agreed to do a 15 minute interview at full time.

"Caroline had made a joke on air, saying you should get my boss to send me to Hollywood to cover the Oscars," said head of news, Richard Frediani.

"We got a few emails in, had a think about it, costed it and off she went. It’s paid us back several times over, she did a great job."

She went out for a week, sending back 6 days’ of material and interviewed Boyle a second time, after the ceremony at a low-key party.

"We’ve had a really good reaction to it and we were told by his [Boyle’s] twin sister and dad that they were glued to Granada Reports because we were featuring him."
