Granada Reports scores 2 major exclusives
Doughnuts and fizzy wine all round at Quay Street with two big exclusives on Friday’s show .

They secured Victoria Beckham's only Manchester television interview and they were the first TV station to talk to Shanaze Reade since she returned from the Olympics.

We’re told there was much negotiation behind the scenes ahead of Victoria Beckham’s arrival in the city, but it paid off.

Granada Reports scores 2 major exclusives
Hacking
Chatting to Granada’s entertainment reporter Caroline Hacking, she revealed how much the family miss Manchester and, of course, the Trafford Centre.

Yep, those clever PR types sent her some flowers to remind her of the great times she spent shopping:

"I used to go there a few times a week with David and Brooklyn."

We imagine the Trafford Centre PR gang celebrate with posh champagne and canapes rather than doughnuts.

As for exclusive number 2, that came via sports reporter Mike Hall. Interviewing Shanaze Reade in Beijing he discovered that she had two ambitions in life - to win an Olympic Gold Medal and to visit Coronation Street.

Sadly she crashed out of the BMX race, but she was able to hobble along the cobbles with Hall.

"This has really put a smile back on my face, I’ve been down for a few days," she said.

No rest for the wicked though, as head of news Richard Frediani is promising more exclusives over the next few days - and we know he means it because he kept texting us with potential headlines late into the night...

Yawn. Showbiz tosh which is nothing more than free advertising. Usual rules are that no difficult questions are asked. Pretty much sums up all that Granada News is good for. If this is the height of their ambition, no wonder other news stations are eating their lunch.

Who gives a toss about this tosh about V Beckham. Giggly girl interviewers are all that this station can afford. Absolute naffing rubbish. Channel M is a million times better.

This is not industry news, what next? 'Knutsford Gaurdian interviews scout hut leader?'
Us cynical media types don't need any more show biz rubbish even if it does happen in Manchester.

While this article is hilarious, and I may be a cynical PR type, but I can't help but love the Beckhams and were I Mr Frediani I'd be quite pleased with myself as well.

In fairness to them, Granada is probably the best news outlet available in Manchester (can't speak for the North West). It runs rings around the BBC every night and takes a more thoughtful line on most stuff than the MEN (think they're still suffering side effects from their rabies shots).

What's this Channel M you refer to I agree? You surely can't mean the play TV station that now and again appears rather fuzzily on my TV screen. I'd rather watch the snow that you can normally see on their frequency!

Maybe granada retorts should buy a digibox or skybox or pc or indeed freeesat. channel m provdes 6 hours a day of live news for greater manchester...and will soon launch a midday bulletin. and is available on a multitude of digital platforms.

i suppose the main difference between Channel m and Granada is that channel m will still be in manchester 12 months from now....unlike the cost cutting, staff shedding ITV regional news....
