Channel 4 has announced a new online show that will also run within Hollyoaks. Lime Pictures and their digital off-shoot, Conker Media will develop the series.
Runners is about students working as runners in entertainment and the fashion industry and could include real life events, such as The Brit Awards.
Now here comes the complicated bit and it’s a good thing this How-Doer studied existentialism and post-structuralism otherwise his head would have exploded. Deep breath:
Lime Runners is a show within a show. That means the show will be shown on Hollyoaks, which is a show to start with. So viewers will be watching Hollyoaks characters watching a show with other characters, which aren’t real, but they may be at real events. What we really want to know is if the Runners’ characters are fans of Hollyoaks and whether we’ll see them watching Hollyoaks watching them, watching them…. Sorry, brain can’t cope anymore. Oh and you can also watch the three minute episodes online through the official website, Bebo, MSN, Facebook and iTunes. And now you know what it's like meeting a Channel 4 Commissioning Editor.
There’s also a chance Runners may come to television as a 15 minute compilation of the 3 minute episodes. Lime told How-Do that it was a development project and they’re currently shooting a pilot episode. The filming will take place in London and as yet no decision has been made whether they’ll take crew to the location or source local talent. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
