Tuesday night’s episode of Hollyoaks gave digital youth channel E4 its highest ratings of the year, pulling in 1.3m viewers (or 1.4m with the addition of the figures from E4+1).
The show, made by Merseyside’s Lime Pictures, is enjoying a rich vein of popularity in 2008 and has so far pulled in an average of 724,000 viewers in its regular 7pm timeslot. Boosted by the highly-charged ‘Niall’s Revenge’ storyline, Tuesday’s show delivered an audience for E4 that comfortably outshone the concurrent programming on terrestrial channels BBC2, Five and sister station Channel 4. After Hollyoaks the next highest rating show on E4 this year was Big Mouth with Davina on 5 September, pulling in 1.1m viewers. Lime Pictures bosses will be hoping Hollyoaks proves to be as powerful a proposition off-screen as on it, with the recent launch of a new range of branded perfumes. Something to add?
