ITV’s Tonight is returning to Cheshire to profile Russell Watson as the singer recovers from cancer treatment.
Sir Trevor MacDonald and his team first interviewed Watson 18 months ago, weeks after he underwent a course radiotherapy for a pituitary tumour.
“I’ve had two tumours, one them literally nearly killed me. I was minutes away from not being here and I’d almost given up. To think back to that point in my life, it’s a very strange feeling because it almost seems like it was a bad dream,” Watson tells the programme.
The Granada-based team follows him as he signs a new record deal and comes to terms with how the illness has changed him.
Researchers also speak to other people who are recovering from pituitary cancer and Watson’s own specialist Dr Tara Kearney, who reveals that he needs to take regular medication to stop the risk of a heart attack in stressful situations. Russell Watson - Return of the Voice will be broadcast on December 4th on ITV1.
