Following a turbulent year with their share price at just 43.680p at the time of writing, ITV is one of the companies facing demotion from the FTSE-100 index.
Its share price has never been close to its high in 2001, and since a small rise in 2004 it's been in freefall and this year it hit a low of 37.70p. A decision will be made next week, with Enterprise Oil, Ferrexpo and ITV most likely to leave the index, to be replaced by Autonomy, Stagecoach and Home Retail. The demotions and promotions happen once every quarter and this quarter, the changes will go through on September 22nd. The decision is based on the market capitalisation of the company and currently ITV's is just short of £2bn, half of what it was a year ago. While not strictly north west news, we know that quite a lot of our readers will have ITV shares - although the clever ones may have sold them some time ago.... Something to add?
