For the first time in the FA Cup’s history, every single round of the competition will be filmed for broadcast.
Following the move to ITV Sport, from BBC, the tie in between ITV Local , ITV.com and The Football Association will mean that even preliminary rounds will be shot and then uploaded to the ITV websites.
FA Cup Clubs that don’t have their matches covered officially will be able to upload their own videos to the website.
ITV and FA crews will start filming on the first weekend when more than 400 clubs begin their challenge for the Cup. "Dozens of preliminary and qualifying round matches will be captured on camera, thanks to ITV Local. What makes the FA Cup exciting is those small clubs that manage to smash their way through from the early rounds to face Premier League giants," said ITV Local's director of content, Lindsay Charlton.
"With a little luck ITV Local will be able to follow some of this year's giant killers all the way."
"Last season TheFA.com featured highlights of games in every round of the competition, but the link with ITV.com and ITV Local means we'll be going even further this time around," said TheFA.com website editor, Jamie Bradbury.
The action kicks off on August 16th on itvlocal.com/facup . Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
