ITV has commissioned the All3Media-owned indie Maverick Television to produce a primetime 12 x 30-minute documentary looking behind the scenes at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital - Europe’s largest children’s hospital.
Filming is understood to have already begun. Transmission is anticipated next spring.
The Birmingham and London indie is believed to have secured more access and open rights to the hospital and its operations than is normally approved/allowed.
Maverick’s Mark Downie said that: “The series will shine a light on the army of staff who work there, the bravery of its young patients and the forbearance of their parents.
“Our cameras will be with the staff every step of the way as they do their all for the young patients and their families.”
The new hospital came into being this summer following a £500m redevelopment of four hospitals on the Oxford Road corridor in central Manchester. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
