Jane Luca, currently controller of regional affairs at ITV, has been promoted to head of the team dividing her time between Manchester and London.
She will report to Nigel Warner, director of public affairs within the group corporate affairs team which in turn is headed up by Mark Gallagher.
It seems Luca is the sole regional survivor of the cuts announced in February when the broadcaster said it was cutting the regional affairs team from 23 to six and that all the resulting posts would be based in London. Woodward Sue Woodward, formerly MD of Granada and director of the regional affairs team, moved across to a new role working on ITV’s longer term campaigns strategy in March. Woodward is also now reporting to Gallagher.
Luca will be responsible for the delivery of ITV’s regional affairs strategy and engagement with key stakeholders at national and regional levels. She will also have a special focus on Ofcom’s Public Service Broadcasting Review.
Warner said: “I’m delighted to have someone with Jane's experience and ability heading up ITV’s regional affairs team. This is a critical time of change and development at ITV, to which Jane will make an important contribution."
Luca, 47, joined Granada as a production secretary 28 years ago. She progressed through the ranks at Granada and following the merger with Carlton, she won the tussle for her controller’s role which essentially represents the public face of ITV in the regions.
She is also a board member of Marketing Manchester.
