Made in Manchester has been commissioned to produce a documentary on Iraq War victim, Ali Abbas.
 Ali Abbas His picture became one of the most memorable images of the war. During the US bombardment of Baghdad in 2003, he lost both his arms and suffered burns to more than a third of his body. His parents, brother and 13 other members of his family died in the bombing. He was just 12.
Commissioned by Radio 4’s Mohit Bakaya, it will be presented by BBC’s Baghdad correspondent Hugh Sykes and go out at Christmas. "Ali has gone through hell and back but he's a real fighter and has gone on to do some pretty amazing things. Ali is now 17 and lives mainly here in the UK," explained creative director Ashley Byrne says: "A lot has happened in the five years since his image was beamed across TV screens all around the world and we'll be bringing his story bang up to date through this programme," says Ashley. Ali Abbas: In His Own Words will be produced by the company’s new head of programme production, and former 1xtra commissioner, Russell Crewe. Something to add?
