MTV signs Dell and Perez Hilton for Liverpool | Print |  Email to a friend
Tuesday, 09 September 2008

The momentum for the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards would appear to be building, with the announcement that the broadcast giant has signed Dell as the last of its headline sponsors.

In other news, the team behind the Liverpool-staged event has also signed up another…well, slightly less professional name.

The momentum for the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards would appear to be building, with the announcement that the broadcast giant has signed Dell as the last of its headline sponsors.
Hilton books in with MTV
Dell has now been brought in as the third principal sponsor – alongside Esprit and Sony Ericsson – for the event, which was last year broadcast to an audience of over 30 million people, across 19 separate channels.

This year the Awards gala takes place on 6 November at the Echo Arena and will, it is hoped, form one of the highlights of the year-long Capital of Culture celebrations.

The Dell name will now feature across all marketing related to the event, as well as on the dedicated EMA website.

The other moniker that has been brought on is of a slightly different stature to that of Dell, but arguably just as relevant (if not more so) to the target market of the awards.

Perez Hilton – one of the new breeds of uber-bloggers that are now almost as famous as the celebrities they report on – has been signed to present a live webcast of the awards from the Arena.

Hilton, real name Mario Lavandeira, will host a show featuring backstage reports, gossip and interviews, as well as all the red carpet ‘action’ as the celebs arrive.

Hilton said that he was “honoured and thrilled” to be involved.
