New CBBC shows Jinx and This Kid Could Change the World to be made in Manchester
Peter Salmon, the director of the BBC North project, has used the Showcomotion Children’s conference to announce that two new CBBC programmes will be produced out of Manchester.

The shows have been christened Jinx and This Kid Could Change the World and are set to hit the nation's small screens from this autumn.

Jinx is being touted as a 'magical sitcom' about a modern day Cinderella and her magic cookbook, and is based on the Lulu Baker series of books by Fiona Dunbar.

It will run for 13 shows of 30 minutes and is being produced by Kindle Entertainment.

The show is currently in pre-production and will begin shooting in July.

This Kid Could Change the World  is set to be a new factual series which will allow children from across the country to have their 'passionate and innovative world changing ideas put to the test'.

The move north has begun
It will take the format of  a series of heats, with the final show out of the nine part run being a studio finale where the winning idea will be put into action by a mysterious figure known as 'the Big Cheese.'

Shine Productions has been brought on board to produce the programme.

Both shows have been commissioned by BBC controller Anne Gilchrist.

She noted: “These new commissions underline CBBC’s continuing commitment to original British content.

"Both shows have children at their heart and are guaranteed to be hugely entertaining.”

In addition to the new shows, existing favourites Prank Patrol and Beat the Boss are both returning for new series and will also be produced in Manchester.

Together the productions will help the corporation work towards its target of having 50% of its programme spend allocated outside of London by 2016.

This is great news for children's TV. Is the name of the mysterious, fantasy character inspired by media characters featured regularly on How - Do???
