New Nike ad has to be seen to be believed...

Okay, okay, so the connection with the North West media and marketing industry is tenuous at best - it stars Wayne Rooney, from the North West, and it's an advert - but the new epic, epic TV commercial from Nike is so audacious that we felt it warranted three minutes of yours (and our) very valuable time.

Premiering tomorrow evening around the Champions League Final, the 'write the future' ad shows how footballers such as Mr Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Didier Drogba have the ability to change their destinies with one pass on the looming World Cup stage.

Directed by renowned Hollywood artisan Alejandro G. Iñarritu (21 Grams, Babel), the ad features guest appearances by Roger Federer, Kobe Bryant and, in a moment of sheer genius, Homer Simpson.

Our hats are doffed in the direction of ad agency Wieden+Kennedy... especially for the image of the caravan dwelling, beard-clad Rooney of the future.

I bet Nike are glad they paid Ronaldinho all that money and he didn't make the Brazil World Cup squad, lol

And is that Focus with their timeless hit Hocus Pocus for the soundtrack? Wonderful.
