Northwest Vision and Media (NWVM) is looking to develop a host of innovative training and development schemes for those working within the regional media industry, and is currently searching for suppliers to deliver on its ambitious objectives.
There are three individual tenders currently up for grabs, two of which are focused on sculpting training courses aimed at “developing the Northwest’s media workforce into multi-platform thinkers, producers and developers.” Specifically these are a tender to supply a ‘multi-platform journalism programme’ and a ‘cross sector exchange programme’. Both of these planned initiatives spring out of research completed by Skillset, which highlights the needs for talent across numerous platforms in an increasingly convergent media world. The former training programme will be targeted at freelance broadcast journalists, while the latter will be looking to engage with production and digital workers. The final tender invites interest from those that can help NWVM set up freelance business and personal development workshops across the TV, interactive and radio sectors. In total the funding available for all three programmes is around £250,000 – dependent on whether all stages of the training are given the green light.
