Northwest Vision and Media has revealed that it has added to the £3m in funding it secured from the NWDA earlier this year with the award of an additional £2,735,000 from the Northwest European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme.
Northwest Vision and Media has revealed that it has added to the £3m in funding it secured from the NWDA earlier this year with the award of an additional £2,735,000 from the Northwest European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme.

The organisation, which was recently appointed as the single support entity for the region's creative and digital sectors, has also announced that it is to join the BBC and Salford University at the MediaCityUK development.

According to a statement from the body, the ERDF funding will be used to develop the organisation in line with its extended remit, support the "urgent needs of the sector during the current downturn", raise awareness and "help ensure the creative and digital sector take advantage of the global opportunities the MediaCityUK development presents."

NWVM move to the City
The team will be fulfilling this final role from the heart of the Peel Media development, as it gets set to relocate to Broadway, opposite The Pie Factory, in autumn of this year.

Northwest Vision and Media chief executive Alice Morrison said the financial boost would "help us make even more of a difference to our sectors delivering programmes to really help grow businesses and encourage innovation and collaboration, particularly in this difficult climate."

She added that she was "incredibly excited" about the move to MediaCityUK.

Bryan Gray, chairman of Peel Media (and of the NWDA), stated that, with the organisation's aims, “it makes perfect sense for them to move to MediaCityUK.

"Their location opposite the Pie Factory ensures that they will be at the heart of current developments within the studios and close to the diverse array of tenants already doing business at MediaCityUK”.

Good news for this organisation. Why am I increasingly thinking the only people moving to Media City are those paid for with Public money? Perhaps it should have a rename to Quango City to better represent its tenants....
