Critically acclaimed Terence Davies film Of Time and the City has been named as one of the 10 best films of the year by Time Magazine.
"Funny, pained, deeply felt" The BAFTA-nominated, Northwest Vision and Media supported piece, which combined newsreel footage and home movies to craft a homage to Davies' hometown of Liverpool, found itself rubbing shoulders with slightly bigger budget films, such as Up and The Fantastic Mr Fox.It came in at number eight in the run down, with Time noting: "Even those who knew the city only as the home of the Beatles and a prominent football team should have been amused and touched by this brief mélange of ancient history and autobiography that is immensely funny and pained and deeply felt." The film, which also gained glowing reviews at the Cannes Festival, is currently in the running for a Cinema Eye award for non-fiction filmmaking, set to be announced in New York on January 10. Of Time and the City was part funded by Liverpool City Council and produced by Hurricane Films. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
