Bob Shennan, controller of BBC Radio Five Live, will next week lead a panel of TV and culture executives in a panel discussion on the potential impact of mediacity on the North West and beyond.
Morrison The event takes place on 26 November and forms part of the 4th annual Salford Film Festival. Its main purpose would appear to be answering some of the questions that surround the current plans and, with this in mind, several of the panel members will be key stakeholders in the project.Although not all of the contributors have been confirmed as yet, Alice Morrison from Northwest Media and Vision will join Shennan, alongside Chris Farrow of Central Salford URC, Ed Burrows from Peel Media, the Pie Factory’s Andy Sumner, Alison Surtees Cris of Creative Industries in Salford and Cllr John Merry, the leader of Salford City Council. Speaking about the plans for the evening Morrison commented: "At the informal panel discussion, we'll be talking about what mediacity:uk will really mean for the city, and what will it means for the community. “Without doubt, the development will transform media production in the UK, so we want to talk about how those changes will effect the businesses which are already operating in the region, as well as the companies mediacity:uk hopes to attract."
