Paul Abbott not happy with Shameless | Print |  Email to a friend

Paul Abbott, the creator of the Manchester-based Channel 4 show Shameless, has admitted that the last series of the hit programme disappointed him.
Shameless: gets a beating from Abbott
In an interview with the Radio Times he candidly stated, “I wasn't happy with the last series”, going on to admit that “sometimes it can rest on its laurels.”

In what appears to be a criticism of the scriptwriters that worked on the fifth series, he said that it could appear like “it's painted with a 5in brush, and it doesn't need to do that.”

He continued: “Writers need to know how sophisticatedly they can attend to a storyline. It's not all about c**ks and t*ts and swearing."

Abbott was speaking to the leading listings title ahead of the premiere of the new (and sixth) Shameless series on Channel 4 next week.

How-Do therefore assumes there’ll be less ‘c**ks and t*ts and swearing’ in this latest outing, which some viewers might think is a bit of a f**king shame.
