Peel Media has confirmed to How-Do that it has made the post of head of business development for MediaCityUK redundant, leading to the departure of Jason Legget, less than one year after the former NWDA man joined the business.
The Salford Star broke the news of Legget's departure this morning. Since then How-Do has attempted to contact Legget to ascertain his future plans (we're currently waiting to hear back), while Peel Media itself has issued the following short quote from chief executive Sinead Greenaway:
"I would like to thank Jason for his contribution to the development of MediaCityUK over the last year and I wish him every success for the future.”
Legget joined Peel last June at the same time as finance director Paul Ryan, who How-Do revealed in March, is also leaving the firm this month.
He previously worked at the NWDA, leading the organisation's engagement with MediaCityUK for three years, and prior to that was a director of Bandwith Media.
Legget worked for Trinity Mirror up until late 2001, holding the position of director of digital media.

How can you make someone redundant after less than a year? Think there's more to this than meets the eye. And didn't Bryan Gray bring him with him from the NWDA? Is someone at MCUK standing up for themselves?
Most of the "business development" people I meet - especially in the public sector (and yes I know Peel is private) - never develop any business but seem to bounce on to similar jobs with similar titles and with a bigger remuneration package. Academia is the worst.
"He emailed me once to ask me (politely) to take the colon out of MediaCity:UK (to become MediaCityUK) on my timeline website."
Doesn't that just say it all?
I wonder what he achieved in his time at MediaCityUK for Business Development. He emailed me once to ask me (politely) to take the colon out of MediaCity:UK (to become MediaCityUK) on my timeline website. I did that. I never heard from him again despite my emails. Always happy to help though...? Anyway, there is a small army of online campaigners (including myself) blowing the trumpet for this great development in Salford Quays using Flickr, Twitter, Blogs, Websites, YouTube and the electronic kitchen sink etc. My timeline is 3 years old now and contains 14,500 pictures to date, of the development. I have worked in the Quays for 15 years (latterly as an IT Manager) and hope the MediaCityUK Phase 1 (and subsequent phases) prove to be a big hit for the area.
