That number one and YouTube favourite was followed up by another charity single, I’m Gonna Be (500 miles), and then another assault on the pop charts in the shape of alter-ego Geraldine McQueen, which made it into the Top 10.
“We are really excited about this year’s single. We’re sure Peter Kay’s midas touch will help to create an iconic charity single that will raise much needed funds for disadvantaged children here in the UK,” added David Ramsden, CEO of BBC Children in Need.
In 2008, the charity received £38 million through donations, which then went to organisations working with disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.
