PSA showcases Thomas the Tank Engine work for HIT Entertainment and Drayton Manor | Print |  Email to a friend

Thomas the Tank Engine is on track to hit our small screens again this month, after a new national TV campaign has been produced to promote Drayton Manor Theme Park’s Thomas & Friends attraction.

Drayton Manor has ‘cut out the middleman’ for the campaign, dispensing with the standard practice of working alongside an agency on the brief and appointing PSA Films to write and produce the work.

However, PSA did not receive a completely freehand on the project, as director Ben Swift explained: “We write a lot of the commercials we produce, especially for the financial sector, so we’re used to working with in-house marketing teams on delivering strategic messages, but the Thomas Land ad was completely different.

“We were writing and producing the ad based on a brief and budget given by Drayton Manor, but cross-referencing all creative decisions with HIT Entertainment, the guardian of the Thomas brand.

“HIT is very careful about how it presents the brands it manages so there’s a lot of careful deliberation to ensure that it’s absolutely right.

“We had to look for lots of alternatives to find a result that both parties were absolutely happy with.”

The ad (seen below) begins airing on terrestrial channels before the end of the month and will be seen across digital entertainment and children’s channels throughout the summer and autumn.

PSA recently revealed that it was the firm behind the transformation of elephant.co.uk spokesanimal Trunkie.
