Radio City DJ Kev Seed awaits fate after drink driving charge | Print |  Email to a friend
Thursday, 09 October 2008
Kev Seed, one of Radio City’s star DJs, has been suspended from the Bauer-owned station after it emerged that he had tested positive for drink driving on the M6 in Lancashire last week.

Seed is due to appear in court today, after which he will hear of any further disciplinary action from City.

Seed: off the air
How-Do was contacted by a spokesperson from Radio City yesterday after the news of Seed’s actions appeared in the Liverpool Echo.

The DJ, who was recently moved from his breakfast show slot to drivetime, was stopped last Wednesday on the southbound carriageway of the M6 near Leyland at 3.25pm.

Allegedly he was tested positive for driving under the influence of alcohol, with a level of 53 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, or approximately one-and-a-half times over the legal limit for driving.

City has reacted by suspending him with immediate effect and is expected to announce its final course of action on the matter today.

This was imparted by a statement from the spokesperson that noted: “We have been made aware this morning that Kev will be appearing in court tomorrow. We will pass further comment tomorrow after his appearance.”

Seed has become a celebrity in Liverpool and enjoyed huge success with the Radio City breakfast show.

However, in 2005 he spent a stint at The Priory and, according to the Echo, was also arrested on suspicion of attacking his then fiancé, beauty queen Emmalene McLoughlin.

He was released without charge.

City appeared on How-Do yesterday with a ‘make your day’ promotion styled on Jim’ll Fix It.

One of the suggestions on the Radio City website was that listeners might like “Kev Seed to drive you home from work in a tank.”

What has being caught drink driving got to do with carrying on presenting your show?

I think I'll pass on the tank ride all the same...
