Radio DJ Pete Price targeted by fake blogger, police take action

Out-spoken City Talk DJ Pete Price has been the subject of a "horrendous" fake blogging campaign that he says left him 'distressed' and 'angry'.

Price, arguably the highest profile figure on the Bauer station's books (he is also a columnist with the Echo), was targeted by a 25 year old man from Southport who set up two blogs in his name to " vent" his "anger at certain people" in the public eye in Liverpool.

Out-spoken City Talk DJ Pete Price has been the subject of a Apparently he believed that by posing as Price his opinions would carry more weight and garner publicity.

Price, speaking to the Echo, was not happy about this. He said:

"It’s made me very angry somebody would create something like this. My name was being used for the blog and they started saying the most dreadful things about my friends.

"There was also an occasion when a stranger came up to me and threatened me at Aintree Racecourse because of something that was written about their friend.

"It was getting out of hand. It was horrendous. I didn’t know when it was going to end.”

The end came when the presenter called in Merseyside Police and its Hi-Tech Crime Unit, which proceeded to track down the blogger, seize his computer and issue a caution.

Price has now received a letter of apology from the man.

He concluded: "I think the internet is out of control. How dare anyone use my name to disparage people I love and care for.

“I’ve had many sleepless nights over this, as have some of the people who have been mentioned in it.”
